Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty is the technique of facial plastic surgery responsible for reshaping the nose and nasal airway. This is a procedure that can be performed both under local or general anesthesia. There are numerous surgical techniques described on performing rhinoplasty, although generically can be divided into open and closed techniques.
Rhinoplasty is particularly suitable for those who have cosmetic problems in relation to a nose too big, too small, or deviation of the nasal root. It also allows the modification of elements such as runny nose tip, the nostrils, columella or philtrum. It can be a complementary technique with other facial plastic surgery procedures done as usually happens with the facelift, blepharoplasty, mentoplasty, or surgery for tightening the lips (also called Lip Lift).
There is no age limit to perform a rhinoplasty. However, the age at which most often patients are referred for rhinoplasty is comprised between 18 to 40 years.
